Why is the green LED on on my Honeywell Thermostat?
    • A
      Anthony NorrisSep 23, 2025
If the green LED is on on your Honeywell Thermostat, the filter has expired. Replace the filter or clean electronic air cleaner cells. Press and hold the filter key to reset the timer. To disable the filter timer, select 0 as the timer value.

What does 'wait' mean on my Honeywell Thermostat, and why isn't cooling or heating starting?
    • J
      John RiveraAug 23, 2025
If “wait” is displayed and the call for Cool (or Heat when used in a heat pump application) has not started on your Honeywell Thermostat, compressor protection is likely active. This feature can be set from 0 to 5 minutes to prevent compressor damage from rapid cycling. Wait until the compressor protection period expires. To bypass this during installation, refer to the Installer System Test section.

Why is my Honeywell W8635B heating not working, but the system indicator is on?
    • E
      Evelyn LambertAug 25, 2025
If the heating does not come on, but the system on indicator is displayed on your Honeywell Thermostat, it may be due to a communication issue or incorrect wiring. Try ending the call and repeating it. Check the Flash Com OK LED on the W8835 or W8635 EIM during the call. If it doesn't blink, check the communication bus wiring. If it blinks correctly, check for 24 Vac at the W1 or W1/Y1 terminal, depending on the equipment module. If 24 Vac is absent, check the R to Rh connection. If the connection is good, the W8835 or W8635 EIM may need replacement.

Why is my Honeywell W8635B Thermostat cooling not working, but the system indicator is on?
    • A
      Alison WilliamsAug 27, 2025
If the cooling does not come on, but the system on indicator is displayed on your Honeywell Thermostat, it may be due to a communication issue or incorrect wiring. End and repeat the call for cool. Check the Flash Com OK LED on the W8635 EIM or W8835 while the call is being made. If the Flash Com OK LED does not blink, check communication bus wiring. If the Flash Com OK LED blinks correctly, check that 24 Vac is present at Y1 or W1/Y1 terminal, depending on which EIM is being used. If 24 Vac is not present, check R to Rc and/or Rh connections. If the R to Rc and/or Rh connections are good, replace the W8635 EIM or W8835.

What does '7 COM' mean on my Honeywell W8635B Thermostat?
    • N
      Natasha RamirezSep 18, 2025
If '7 COM' is displayed on your Honeywell Thermostat, the system is configured to use an external timer. As this function is not currently available, enter Installer Setup and change Installer Setup 43 to 0.

What does '5 COM' mean on my Honeywell Thermostat?
    • D
      Derrick AndersonSep 15, 2025
If '5 COM' is displayed on your Honeywell Thermostat, it indicates that Zone 0 was found in a zoned system. To resolve this, enter Installer Setup and change Installer Setup Number 1 to another value (1-9) that corresponds to the zone it is controlling.

    • C
      Christina WhiteSep 17, 2025

    Elizabeth CarrollSep 6, 2025
Why doesn't the emergency heat work on my Honeywell W8635B Thermostat?
    • D
Dr. Samantha Jones DDSSep 7, 2025
If the Emergency Heat does not energize on your Honeywell Thermostat (only when used with W8635B or W8835), the Emergency Heat load at W8635 or W8835 may not be connected correctly. Check that 24 Vac is present at the E terminal. If 24 Vac is not present, all connections are good, and the thermostat is properly configured, replace W8635B or W8835.

Why is the outdoor temperature not displayed or incorrect on my Honeywell W8635B Thermostat?
    • C
      Christopher ReevesSep 3, 2025
If the outdoor temperature is not displayed or is incorrect on your Honeywell Thermostat, the outdoor temperature setting might not be enabled in the Installer Setup, or the outdoor sensor may not be connected correctly or is out-of-range. Also, check if the outdoor sensor is configured at more than one thermostat zone location. Install a C7089B Outdoor Temperature Sensor to OT terminals on one thermostat and configure Installer Setup No. 45 to 1 only at the zone where the sensor is connected. If the sensor is not connected or is out-of-range (below –40°F or above 120°F), “- -” will be displayed on the thermostat where the sensor is located.
