Overview

This document describes the Hoover HWB 814 D washing machine, an appliance designed for domestic use. It provides comprehensive instructions for use, covering installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Hoover HWB 814 D is a washing machine designed to clean various types of fabrics. It offers a range of wash programmes tailored to different fabric types and degrees of soiling, including cotton, mixed fabrics, synthetics, delicate fabrics, woollens, and silk. The machine incorporates several features to optimize washing performance and user convenience, such as the "Kg MODE" for automatic load adjustment, "Fast Iron" for crease reduction, "Sensitive Care" for delicate skin, and "Stain Blaster" for enhanced cleaning. It also includes options for adjusting wash temperature, spin speed, and delaying the start of a cycle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Max. load of dry laundry: 8 kg
  • Water pressure: 0.05 ÷ 0.8 MPa
  • Measurements:
    • Width: 60 cm
    • Depth: 54 cm
    • Height: 82 cm
  • Electrical Connections: The appliance requires a 13 Amp socket and must be earthed. The ready-fitted plug is equipped with a BS 1362 ASTA approved 13 amp fuse.
  • Water Connection: Uses cold water only. The inlet hose has a 3/4" B.S.P threaded end connection. The discharge hose must be positioned at a minimum of 50 cm and a maximum of 85 cm from the ground.
  • Compliance: The appliance complies with European Directives 73/23/EEC, 89/336/EEC, 2006/95/EC, and 2004/108/EC.

Usage Features:

  • Controls: The machine features a programme selector with an "OFF" position, a digital display, and various buttons for functions such as "Start/Pause," "Fast Iron," "Wash Temperature," "Delay Start," "Sensitive Care," "Stain Blaster," and "Spin Speed." An indicator light illuminates when buttons are pressed.
  • Detergent Drawer: Split into three compartments for prewash detergent (I), special additives (fabric softeners, fragrances, starch, brighteners, etc.), and main wash detergent (II). Liquid products for special additives should only be placed in the designated compartment, as the machine automatically takes them up during the final rinse.
  • Programme Selection: Users can select programmes based on fabric type, degree of dirt, wash temperature, and cycle length. The "Wash Time" button allows adjustment of wash intensity for cotton and mixed fibre programmes, offering 3 levels of intensity. For rapid wash cycles, it enables selection of 14, 30, or 44-minute options.
  • "Kg MODE": Active on Cotton and Synthetics programmes, this intelligent sensor weighs the laundry during the first 4 minutes of the wash cycle and automatically adjusts water amount, cycle length, rinsing, drum rotation rhythm, and spin speed to optimize performance and prevent imbalance.
  • "Fast Iron" (D): Minimizes creases, particularly for mixed fabrics, delicate fabrics, woollens, and silk, through a unique anti-crease system.
  • "Sensitive Care" (G): Activates a special wash cycle in Cotton and Mixed Fabrics programs, using a larger quantity of water and combined drum rotation cycles for thorough cleaning and rinsing, ideal for delicate skin and children's clothing.
  • "Stain Blaster" (H): Available in Cotton cycles, this function uses sensors to maintain a constant temperature and adjusts drum rotation speeds to maximize cleaning action without increasing programme length.
  • "Delay Start" (F): Allows pre-programming the wash cycle to delay the start for up to 24 hours.
  • "Spin Speed" (I): Adjustable to suit fabric needs, allowing reduction of maximum speed or cancellation of the spin cycle. The machine has an electronic device to prevent spin cycle if the load is unbalanced, reducing noise and vibration.
  • "A" Wash 59' (A 59'): A specially designed programme that maintains high wash performance with a reduced wash time. It supports a maximum load of 3 kg at 60°C and includes 2 rinses and a high-speed spin.
  • Rapid Programmes (R 14', R 30', R 44'): Quick wash cycles for slightly dirty cottons and mixed fabrics. When using rapid programmes, it is recommended to use only 20% of the recommended detergent quantities.
  • Door Security: A safety device prevents the door from opening immediately after the cycle ends. The "Door Security" indicator light illuminates when the door is closed and the machine is ON, and goes out approximately 2 minutes after the programme finishes.
  • Power Interruption Memory: If there is a power supply break during operation, the machine stores the selected programme and resumes from where it left off when power is restored.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning the Detergent Drawer: The compartments can be pulled out for cleaning under running water.
  • Cleaning the Door Glass: Regularly clean with a damp cloth to prevent soiling and residue build-up, which could lead to water leaking. Abrasive cleaners should not be used.
  • External Cleaning: Use a damp cloth; avoid alcohol-based scourers or thinners.
  • Transport and Storage: For long periods of disuse or transport in unheated places, all remaining water must be removed from the hoses. This involves turning off mains power, unclipping the hose, and pointing it downwards into a basin until all water has emptied. It is recommended to keep the braces and screws used for initial immobilization for future transit.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a table of common malfunctions, their causes, and remedies, enabling users to address minor issues themselves. For more complex problems, users are advised to contact the Authorised Technical Support Service.
