Overview

The Hover-1 Helios is an electric folding scooter designed for personal transportation. It is crucial to read the operation manual thoroughly before use to prevent damage to the device, property, serious bodily injury, or even death. Always wear a properly fitted helmet that complies with CPSC or CE safety standards when riding.

Function Description

The Helios is a personal transporter that operates using an electric motor. It features different speed modes, cruise control, and a "kick to start" safety mechanism. The device is equipped with a display that shows information such as braking light status, current speed, speed mode, headlight indicator, battery level, tachometer, and odometer. The scooter can be folded for easier storage and transport. It also includes a mobile phone holder for convenience.

Usage Features

Before riding, ensure the Helios is fully charged. For safety, the scooter will not accelerate unless it is already moving at least 1.8 mph (3 km/h). Riders must push off the ground with their foot to get the Helios moving, then press the throttle to engage the motor. The "kick to start" feature can be turned off by pressing the power button five times.

To activate different speed modes (Eco, Default, Sport), ensure the Helios is powered on and not in motion, then press the power button twice. The display will indicate the activated speed mode. Cruise control automatically activates after traveling at the same speed for more than eight seconds and can be canceled by pressing the throttle or squeezing the brake handle. The LED lights button can be double-pressed to switch between trip mileage and the odometer.

To slow down, disengage the throttle and squeeze the brake handle. The brake is pressure-sensitive, meaning a tighter squeeze provides more stopping power. Avoid sudden stops to prevent injury or damage to the brake discs. The handlebars are used to steer the Helios. Riders should shift their weight when turning at higher speeds to maintain stability. The Helios can also be operated manually without using the motor.

The Helios is intended for use by a single individual and should not be operated with two or more people. It is not recommended for young children or the elderly. Riders should not carry anything while riding. Individuals with a lack of balance should not attempt to operate the Helios.

Safety Precautions and Warnings:

  • Helmets Save Lives! Always wear a CPSC or CE compliant helmet.
  • Folding and Unfolding: Exercise great care as moving and folding parts can cut skin or pinch. Ensure the steering column, folding hinge, and handlebars are securely locked in place before riding.
  • Operation Manual: Read the manual thoroughly. Failure to follow instructions can lead to damage, injury, or death.
  • Charger: Use only the supplied Hover-1 charger. Using other chargers voids the warranty and poses risks of damage, overheating, and fire.
  • Operating Temperature: The Helios and its charger have specific operating temperature ranges (32°F - 104°F / 0°C - 40°C).
  • Surfaces: Do not ride on icy or slippery surfaces. The Helios is designed for flat, even paved surfaces. If encountering uneven pavement, lift the Helios over the obstruction. Avoid puddles, mud, sand, stones, gravel, debris, or rough terrain. Do not ride over bumps or objects greater than ½ inch.
  • Storage: Store the Helios in a dry, ventilated environment. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and elements can damage enclosure materials. Store indoors when not in use.
  • Transport: Avoid violent crashes or impact when transporting.
  • Low Temperature Warning: Riding in cold temperatures (below 40°F/4°C) can increase the risk of mechanical failures and decrease battery performance.
  • Heat/Moisture: Keep the E-Scooter away from heat sources, direct sunlight, humidity, water, and other liquids. Do not operate if exposed to water or moisture.
  • Damage: Do not use if dropped or damaged.
  • Repairs: Electrical repairs should only be performed by the manufacturer to avoid voiding the warranty and serious risk.
  • Puncture/Harm: Do not puncture or harm the exterior surface.
  • Intended Use: Use only for its intended purpose.
  • Not a Toy: Keep out of reach of children.
  • Batteries: Do not expose batteries to excessive heat or open flames. Do not allow hands, feet, hair, body parts, clothing, or similar articles to contact moving parts, wheels, or the drivetrain while running.
  • Medical Conditions: Consult a doctor if you have medical conditions affecting your ability to use the Helios. Persons with head, back, neck ailments, prior surgeries, pregnancy, heart conditions, or mental/physical conditions that impair safety judgment should not use it.
  • Laws: Obey all local traffic laws, including lights, signs, and crosswalks. Ride with traffic, not against it.
  • Visibility: The Helios is not equipped with reflectors. It is not recommended to ride in low visibility. If riding in low-visibility conditions (fog, dusk, night), turn on the LED headlight and wear bright, reflective clothing.
  • Pedestrians: Give pedestrians the right-of-way. Do not ride too close; alert them if passing from behind.
  • Intersections: Slow down at intersections and look left and right before crossing.
  • Skill Level: Do not ride above your skill level. Practice all functions in a flat, open area before public use.
  • Speed: Increased speed comes with increased risk. Small bumps at higher speeds can cause strong impacts and injury.
  • Pets: Do not ride with pets.
  • Modifications: Do not open or modify the Helios; this voids the warranty and can cause failure, injury, or death.
  • Danger to Others: Do not use in a manner that endangers people or property.
  • Distance: Maintain a safe distance from other riders to prevent collisions.
  • Foot Placement: Keep feet on the Helios at all times.
  • Impairment: Do not operate under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or when restless or sleepy.
  • Misuse: Do not ride off curbs, ramps, in skate parks, empty pools, or like a skateboard. Misuse voids the warranty and can lead to injury.
  • Abuse: Do not abuse the Helios; physical abuse (e.g., dropping) voids the warranty and can damage the unit.
  • Weather: Do not ride in inclement weather (snow, rain, hail, sleet, icy roads) or extreme heat/cold.
  • Bumps: Bend knees on bumpy pavement to absorb shock and vibrations and maintain balance.
  • Unsure Terrain: If unsure about safe riding terrain, step off and carry the Helios.
  • Crowded Areas: Do not operate in crowded areas.
  • Indoors: Use extreme caution indoors, especially around people, property, and narrow spaces.
  • Distractions: Do not operate while talking, texting, or looking at your phone.
  • Prohibited Areas: Do not ride where not permitted.
  • Motor Vehicles: Do not ride near motor vehicles or on public roads.
  • Hills: Do not travel up or down steep hills.
  • Stopping Distance: At higher speeds, take longer stopping distances into consideration.
  • Stunts: Do not attempt to jump on/off, or perform stunts/tricks.
  • Lighting: Do not ride in dark or poorly lit areas.
  • Potholes/Cracks: Do not ride near or over potholes, cracks, or uneven pavement/surfaces.
  • Off-Road: Do not operate off-road.
  • Sharp Turns: Do not turn sharply, especially at high speeds.
  • Flammable Areas: Avoid driving in unsafe places with flammable gas, steam, liquid, dust, or fiber.
  • Water Bodies: Do not operate near swimming pools or other bodies of water.
  • Braking Distance: Maintain a safe braking distance during wet conditions.
  • Battery Odor/Leak: Do not use if the battery emits odor, overheats, or leaks. Do not touch leaking materials or breathe fumes.
  • Battery Substances: The battery contains dangerous substances; do not open or insert anything into it.
  • Charging Damaged Battery: Do not attempt to charge a discharged or substance-emitting battery. Distance yourself immediately in case of fire or explosion.
  • Medical Assistance: Seek immediate medical assistance if exposed to any substance emitted from the battery.

Maintenance Features

  • Circuitry Protection: To avoid damage to internal circuitry, do not expose the Helios to liquid, moisture, or humidity.
  • Cleaning: Do not use abrasive cleaning solvents. Avoid using water or other liquids for cleaning, as this can cause permanent damage to internal components.
  • Temperature Exposure: Do not expose to extremely high or low temperatures, as this shortens device life, destroys the battery, and distorts plastic parts.
  • Disposal: Do not dispose of the Helios in fire, as it may explode or combust.
  • Sharp Objects: Do not let the Helios contact sharp objects, as this causes scratches and damage.
  • Falls: Do not let the Helios fall from high places, as this can damage internal circuitry.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble the Helios; this voids the warranty.
  • Replacement Parts: Use only manufacturer-authorized replacement parts.
  • Battery Recycling: To preserve natural resources, recycle or dispose of batteries properly. Consult local waste authority for information on lithium-ion battery recycling/disposal options.
  • Pre-Ride Checklist: Before each use, perform checks: braking system functioning, safety labels in place, axle/chain guards in working condition, tires inflated properly with sufficient tread, safe operating area, comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes, and overall proper working order. Contact customer support if any part does not function correctly.
