The Hover-1 Superstar is a personal electric scooter designed for individual transportation. It operates using digital electronic gyroscopes and acceleration sensors to maintain balance and motion, responding to the user's center of gravity. A control system drives motors located within the wheels, and a built-in inertia dynamic stabilization system assists with balance when moving forward and backward, though not during turns.
The Superstar allows users to move by shifting their center of gravity. Tilting the body forward will propel the scooter forward, while leaning backward will slow it down or move it in reverse. Turning is achieved by focusing on the desired direction and shifting weight accordingly. The scooter is equipped with foot mats that contain four sensors, which detect the user's presence and pressure to control movement. If weight and pressure are applied to only one foot mat, the Superstar may vibrate or spin in one direction, which is considered normal operation.
The device features a battery indicator to show the charge status: a green LED indicates a full charge, a red flashing LED with beeping signals a low battery, and a yellow light indicates that the board is charging. A running indicator LED lights up when the foot mats are triggered, signifying that the system is in operation. If an error occurs, this LED will turn red, alerting the user to a safety issue.
The Superstar is also equipped with a powerful built-in wireless Bluetooth® speaker, allowing users to stream music while riding. It can pair with Bluetooth®-enabled devices, and once paired, it will automatically reconnect when the device is in range and Bluetooth® is activated. The scooter can pair with up to two multi-point devices. One speaker plays music, while the other is reserved for safety alerts.
Additionally, the Superstar is an App-enabled scooter compatible with Apple iOS and Android devices. The free Hover-1 App provides access to features such as headlight colors and skill mode.
To power on the Superstar, the user places it flat on the floor and presses the power button located at the rear. The battery indicator light will illuminate, confirming it's on. To power off, the button is pressed once more.
Riding the Superstar requires the user to step onto the foot mats evenly and confidently, imagining climbing stairs. It's crucial to keep feet on the pedals at all times to avoid accidental stops or sideways veering. Users are advised to stay relaxed and focus on their center of gravity for full control. When dismounting, one leg should be lifted, and the foot placed back on the ground (stepping back), then the other foot should be lifted completely off the mat to prevent the scooter from spinning.
The scooter has speed and weight limitations for safety: a maximum weight of 100 kg, a minimum weight of 20 kg, and a maximum speed of 7 mph. The operating range is up to 6 miles on a fully charged battery under ideal conditions, but this can be affected by terrain, user weight, ambient temperature, and riding style (e.g., frequent starts/stops or high speeds reduce range).
Safety alerts are provided through a red running indicator light and a beep sound if a system error or improper operation occurs. These alerts indicate various issues such as unsafe riding surfaces, tilted platforms (more than 10 degrees forward or backward), low battery voltage, charging status, excessive speed, overheating, or blocked tires. If the system enters protection mode, the alarm indicator will light up, and the board will vibrate. In case of a safety alert causing the Superstar to stop, the user must turn it off and back on to unlock it from a Safety Lock.
Battery care is essential for the Superstar. It uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and should only be charged with the supplied charger and cable. The charging port must be clean and dry, free of dust or debris. The charger's indicator light will be green when plugged into a wall outlet and turn red when connected to the scooter and charging. A full charge takes up to 6 hours, indicated by a yellow flashing light on the scooter and a green light on the charger. The battery should not be charged for more than 7.5 hours. After charging, the charger should be unplugged from both the scooter and the power outlet.
The battery should not be disassembled, exposed to fire or direct sunlight, or used if it emits odor, overheats, or leaks. Lithium-ion batteries are hazardous materials and must be recycled or disposed of properly according to local, state, and federal laws.
For general maintenance, the Superstar should be kept away from liquids, moisture, and humidity to protect internal circuitry. Abrasive cleaning solvents should not be used. The scooter should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, as this can shorten the life of electronic components and damage plastic parts. It should also be protected from sharp objects to prevent scratches. Dropping the Superstar can damage internal circuitry. Disassembling the scooter without permission will void the warranty.
