Cleaning the Platen
It is recommended to clean the Center Platen on a regular basis (at least every few months or when
required) as follows:
1. Unload any substrate loaded from the Printer.
2. Turn off the printer and wait until it has cooled down, then unlock and open the window.
3. With a dry brush remove ink deposits from the Cutter Groove. A brush is available in the User Main-
tenance kit.
4. With the same brush, remove ink deposits from the platen surface.
NOTE: If a wide substrate is used to print after printing on a narrower substrate, you may
find that the left hand side of the platen has become dirty. If this contaminated section of the
platen is not cleaned, it might leave marks on the back of the substrate.
CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the substrate advance sensor (OMAS) when cleaning
the platen. The sensor is covered by a very small rectangular window (less than 1 square cen-
timeter) found close to the third pinchwheel from the right-
