Preventive Maintenance
One of the EEROM counters is assigned to counting the number of carriage cycles. When certain
components of the Printer exceed this amount, the front panel displays the following message:
“Service Maintenance #1 required”
The following message is triggered depending on the number of Service Station cycles.
“Service Maintenance #2 required”
The following message is triggered depending on the total quantity of ink that has gone into the Ink Funnel.
“Service Maintenance #3 required”
Once one of the maintenance advised messages is displayed, the appropriate service maintenance kit
must be used to replace the most worn parts of the printer. Use the Removal and Installation Chapter of
this Service Manual as a guide to replace the necessary parts.
The following PM Kit covers both Maintenance advised messages:
Service Maintenance Kit 1
This Service Maintenance Kit #1 includes the following parts:
• Encoder Strip and sensor
• Ink Supply Tubes and Trailing Cable
• Carriage Assembly (without the PCA, SOL, Line sensor and metal parts)
• Carriage PCA Cover
• Line sensor
• Scan Axis Motor Assembly
• Belt and Tension kit
• Paper Jam sensor.
Service Maintenance Kit 2
This Service Maintenance Kit #2 includes the following parts:
• Service Station: including the Service station Motor, Drop detector, Aerosol System and Web Wipe
Advance Assembly.
• Complete Spittoon system including the tubes, check valve, Ink funnel.
• Line sensor
• Paper Jam sensor
Clean the IR sensors with a lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
Service Maintenance Kit 3
This Service Maintenance Kit #3 contains the following components:
• aerosol Fan and filters
• check valve
• Line sensor
• Platen Label
Clean the IR sensors with a lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
