General Safety Guidelines
Before servicing the printer, read the following safety precautions to make sure that you work on the
printer safely.
• Refer to installation instructions removing and replacing parts.
• Whenever serving the printer, turn off the printer, disconnect both power cords from the power
sockets.
Electrical shock hazard
The printer uses two power cords. Disconnect both power cords before servicing the printer.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock do not attempt to dismantle any of the components of the printer
with the two power cords connected to the printer.
Heat Hazard
The drying and curing subsystems of the printer operate at high temperatures and can cause burns if
touched. To avoid personal injury, take the following precautions.
• Do not touch the internal enclosures of the printer's drying and curing modules when they are hot.
Even after opening the window lock which disconnects drying and curing power, the internal
surfaces could be hot.
• Take special care when accessing the substrate path.
Fire Hazard
The Dryer Assembly and Curing Module operate at high temperatures.
To avoid the risk of fire, take the following precautions.
• Check that the power supply voltage specified on the nameplate is the one being used by the
customer.
• Make sure the power cords use are from dedicated power lines, each protected by a branch circuit
breaker according to the rating of the wall socket. Do not use a power strip (relocatable power tap)
to connect both power cords.
• Check that the power cords are supplied by HP with the printer. Do not use a damaged power cord.
Do not use the power cords with other products.
• Do not use aerosol products that contain flammable gases inside or around the printer.
• Do not block or cover the openings of the printer.
• Load substrates that can be used at an operating temperature of up to 125°C (257°F), and have
auto-ignition temperatures above 250°C (482°F).
Mechanical Hazard
When the carriage moves, it can crush or cut body parts if they are in the way.
Best practice
• Keep your clothing or body parts safe from moving parts of the printer.
• Avoid wearing loose clothing, jewelry like necklaces or bracelets, or any kind of hanging objects.
WARNING!: The drying and curing modules operate at hazardous voltages capable of
causing death or serious personal injury.
