Problems?: Troubleshooting Tips
When I connect a USB
cable between the printer and
my computer, an “Unknown
device” message appears.
• Static electricity has built up in
the cable between your
computer and printer.
OR
• You may have a defective USB
cable.

Disconnect the USB cable from your printer.

Unplug the printer from its power cable.

Wait approximately 30 seconds.

Plug the power back into the printer.

Plug the USB cable back into the printer.

If “Unknown device” continues to appear in the “New hardware found”
dialog box, replace the USB cable or use a parallel cable.
