Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 57).
5. Remove the service cover (see
Service cover on page 59).
6. Remove the Smart Card reader (see
Smart Card reader on page 60).
Remove the hard drive:
1.
Loosen the three Phillips screws (1) that secure the hard drive to the computer.
2. Use the hard drive tab (2) to slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the
system board.
