Before removing the service door, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 54).
Remove the service door:
1. Position the computer upside down, with the back of the computer toward you.
2. Slide the service door release latch to the left (1), revealing the service door securing screw (if
present). Remove this screw (2).
NOTE: There is a threaded receptacle on the inside of the service door for stowing this screw.
3. While sliding the service door release latch fully to the left (3), slide the service door away from
you (4).
