Making required fax settings
Note For the HP LaserJet 4730mfp, a Fax Configuration Wizard is available
to guide you through the steps to make the required fax settings. For
more information, see “Fax Configuration Wizard for the
HP LaserJet 4730mfp” on page 21.
Once the fax accessory is installed, you must make certain settings
before you can use the accessory. If these settings are not made, the
fax icon is displayed, grayed-out with Not Configured written across
it. These settings include:
● Date and time
● Location (country/region)
● Fax header (phone number and company name)
This information is used in the fax header, which is printed on all
outgoing faxes.
Note The fax accessory, when first installed, may read some of these settings
from the MFP, thus, a value may already be set. You should check the
values to verify that they are set and correct.
Note In the U.S. and many other countries/regions, setting the date, time,
location, phone number, and company name is a legal requirement for
fax.
Fax Configuration Wizard for the
HP LaserJet 4730mfp
The Fax Configuration Wizard guides users through a step-by-step
procedure to configure fax settings that are required to use the fax
feature on the HP LaserJet 4730mfp. If the settings are not
configured, the fax feature is disabled.The following is a list of fax
settings that are configured using the wizard:
● Date, time, and time zone
● Location (country/region)
● Fax phone number
● Company name
This information is used in the fax header, which is printed on all
outgoing faxes.
If you do not want to include information for one of the settings, click
Back or Cancel. The wizard then goes to the next screen. For
example, if you do not want to include the company name on the
outgoing faxes, select Cancel.
