  If your HP Laptop doesn't boot whether plugged into AC power or running on battery, try the following: Check the power source first. Then, try a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button to turn the notebook off, and then press the power button again to turn it back on. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery and any PC cards, press the reset button to turn the notebook off, then reconnect the power and try again. Avoid using the touch pad during startup or resuming. Remove all but one SDRAM module and try again, then reinsert any other SDRAM modules and try again. The issue might stem from the AC adapter, SDRAM module, CPU module, switchboard PCA, motherboard, display assembly or hard drive.
