  If your HP Laptop doesn't boot on AC or battery, start by checking the AC adapter. Then, remove any RAM boards and try again. If the external monitor works, replace the LCD module. If the monitor shows activity but the BIOS doesn't complete, replace the CPU module. If the monitor is blank, replace the I/O PCA, the CPU module, or the motherboard. If the power light and display turn on, BIOS completes, but the OS doesn't start from the hard disk or floppy drive, replace the CPU module, then the motherboard. If the OS starts from the floppy drive, reload the hard drive or replace the hard drive.
