8. Remove the keyboard/top cover (3).
Reverse this procedure to install the keyboard/top cover.

NOTE: The power button board spare part kit does not include the power button board cable. The
power button board cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 809856-001.

Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 24), and then remove the following components:
a. Bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 26)
b. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 28)
c. Keyboard/top cover (see Keyboard/top cover on page 48)
Remove the power button board:
1. Turn the keyboard/top cover upside down with the front toward you.
2. Detach the power button board cable (1) from the keyboard/top cover. (The power button board cable
is attached to the keyboard/top cover with double-sided adhesive.)
