Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
To use Wi-Fi, you need access to a wireless access point or “hotspot”.
The availability and strength of a Wi-Fi signal varies depending on objects the Wi-Fi signal has to
pass through (such as buildings or a wall between rooms).
1. From the Home screen, tap Settings Network & internet.
2. Tap the Wi-Fi On/Off switch to turn it on, and then tap Wi-Fi.
The Wi-Fi screen will be displayed, which lists detected Wi-Fi networks.
3. Tap a Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
4. If you selected a secured network, enter the network key or password.
5. Tap Connect.
The Wi-Fi network settings will be saved. The Wi-Fi icon (
or ) will be displayed in
the status bar.
§ The number shown on the Wi-Fi icon indicates whether you've connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz
network.
§ You can save several Wi-Fi network connections. To switch to a different Wi-Fi network, tap
Saved networks on the Wi-Fi screen and then select the network you want to connect to.
§ When you don't need to use Wi-Fi, open the Quick Settings panel and turn Wi-Fi off to save
battery life. See Using Quick Settings on page 17.
