TROUBLESHOOTING
HEATER WILL NOT LIGHT
Possible cause Remedy
Automatic ignition system fails Check if power to heater is turned on and
pump is in operation
Pump not running Start pump
Pump airlocked Check for leaks
Filter dirty Clean filter
Pump strainer basket clogged Clean strainer
Defective gas control Shut off gas supply and call for service
Thermostat turned off Turn on
Set temperature lower than water temperature Increase set temperature
Water too hot-fault condition displayed Refer to fault indication table
HEATER SHORT CYCLING (RAPID ON AND OFF OPERATION)
Possible cause Remedy
Insufficient water flow Clean filter and pump strainer
Defective wiring Repair or replace wiring
Defective high limit or thermostat Repair or replace
HEATER MAKING KNOCKING NOISES
Possible cause Remedy
Heater operating after pump has shut off Shut off gas supply and call for service
Heat exchanger scaled Shut off gas supply and call for service
