Overview

The HyperX Clutch is a versatile gaming controller designed for use with Android devices and PCs, offering multiple connection options including 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB. It provides a comprehensive set of controls for an immersive gaming experience.

The controller features standard action buttons (A, B, X, Y), two analog sticks for precise movement and aiming, and a D-Pad for directional input. For additional control, it includes L1/R1 bumpers and L2/R2 triggers. A dedicated Home button serves multiple functions, including powering the controller on and off, and initiating pairing modes. A mode selection switch allows users to easily switch between 2.4G wireless, Bluetooth, and USB wired modes, adapting to different gaming setups and preferences.

For wireless connectivity, the HyperX Clutch comes with a 2.4GHz wireless adapter, which can be plugged into a PC for a stable and low-latency connection. Alternatively, Bluetooth connectivity allows for wireless gaming with compatible Android devices and PCs without the need for an adapter. For a direct and reliable connection, the controller can be used in wired mode via the included USB-C to USB-A cable, which also serves for charging. The USB-C port on the controller ensures modern and convenient connectivity.

A unique feature of the HyperX Clutch is its convertible mobile clip. This clip allows users to attach their mobile device directly to the controller for a handheld gaming experience. When not in use for attachment, the clip can be folded to serve as a convenient stand for a phone or tablet, enabling tabletop gaming.

The controller incorporates a Turbo function, which can be assigned to individual buttons (L3, R3, A, B, X, Y, LT, RT, LB, RB, and D-Pad) to emulate repeated button presses. This feature is particularly useful for games requiring rapid input. To program Turbo, users press the Turbo button followed by the desired button. To clear a specific Turbo assignment, the Clear button is pressed along with the assigned button. All Turbo assignments can be cleared by holding the Turbo and Clear buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

Battery management is straightforward, with LED indicators providing a visual representation of the battery level. The controller is recommended to be fully charged before its first use. It automatically shuts off after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life, or it can be manually powered off by toggling the mode selector switch.

For optimal performance, the HyperX Clutch includes calibration and reset features. If users experience issues with analog sticks or triggers, a calibration process can be performed. This involves setting the controller to USB mode, holding the Select and Start buttons while connecting to a PC, and then rotating the analog sticks and pressing the triggers to recalibrate them. The calibration is saved by pressing Y + D-Pad DOWN. In case of any operational issues, the controller can be manually power cycled by pressing a pinhole reset button located on the rear.

The HyperX Clutch supports both X-Input and DirectInput functionality on PC. By default, it operates in X-Input Mode, which is widely compatible with modern PC games. The controller remembers the last input mode selected. Users can switch between X-Input and DirectInput modes when the controller is in 2.4G or USB mode by holding the Home button for 3 seconds until the LED indicators flash. Specific LED flash patterns indicate whether the controller is in X-Input or DirectInput mode. It's important to note that when operating in Bluetooth mode, the controller defaults to DirectInput mode, and switching between input modes is disabled.

For any questions or setup issues, users can contact the HyperX support team, ensuring assistance is readily available. The HyperX Clutch is designed to be a versatile and user-friendly controller, catering to a wide range of gaming preferences and platforms.
