Getting started
Important: If you have an existing drive in your system, perform a backup to avoid any loss of
data during installation. Refer to your operating system manual for instructions on how to use the
system’s backup utility.

The IBM Deskstar retail packaged drive includes:
• Deskstar drive, contained in an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protective bag
• Four mounting screws
• An extra jumper
• 40-pin, 80-conductor ATA/IDE interface cable
