11. You have verified the repair of the system bus.
a. If for this service action only an expansion tower was powered off or only the concurrent
maintenance function was used for an IOP or IOA, then go to step 12 (See page 103).
b. Otherwise, perform the following to return the system to the customer:
1) Power off the system/logical partition.
2) Select the operating mode with which the customer was originally running .
If the system was powered off, select the mode on the system control panel. If a secondary
partition was powered off, select the mode on the Work with Partition Status display under
DST. See the iSeries Service Functions
book.
3) Power on the system/logical partition.

If the system has logical partitions and the entry point SRC was B600 xxxx, then check for related
problems in other logical partitions that could have been caused by the failing part. See the iSeries
Service Functions
book.

Communications PIP
For use by authorized service providers.
This topic contains the procedure necessary to isolate a communications failure. Please heed the following
warnings when using this procedure.
DANGER
To prevent a possible electrical shock when adding or removing any devices to or from the system, ensure
that the power cords for those devices are unplugged before the signal cables are connected or
disconnected. If possible, disconnect all power cords from the existing system before you add or remove a
device. (RSFTD203)
DANGER
To prevent a possible electrical shock during an electrical storm, do not connect or disconnect cables or
station protectors for communications lines, display stations, printers, or telephones. (RSFTD003)
DANGER
To prevent a possible electrical shock from touching two surfaces with different electrical grounds, use one
hand, when possible, to connect or disconnect signal cables. (RSFTD004)
DANGER
To prevent power from switching on automatically during service procedures, select manual or secure mode
on the system unit control panel or disconnect the cables that connect to J15 and J16 on the frame being
serviced. (RSFTD211)
