18.2 Serial Expansion
A serial interface serves as an expansion unit for an IF-57xx master terminal.
The expander is used to connect a serial device, such as a barcode reader.

The serial expander is mounted to the back panel of the IF-57xx master terminal using 2 screws and 2
spacer sleeves. Prevent short circuits by attaching the two spacer sleeves between the back panel of the
housing and the IF-57xx (see illustration).
In order to install an IF-57xx master terminal with a serial expander to the wall, you
need a spacer: order no. 75-5735-0001 (black) / 75-5735-0002 (white).
