18.2.2 Connection of an External Device to an IF-57xx Terminal
The RS232 interface of the serial expander can be used to operate various external devices. The desired
device is set using the OC-Tool etp n -cfg
The signal lines TxD, RxD and GND are used for communication
The corresponding interface parameters are also automatically defined with the selection of the device.
The barcode reader interface can be used to connect and operate various barcode readers such as
§ Scanner module
§ Imager module
§ Manual scanner (order no. 75-99-0005)

The functions described are available for IF-57xx software version V7.13.08.

The serial expander is connected to the IF-57xx master terminal by the enclosed 5-pin cable as shown in the
illustration.
