  The Intex Swimming Pool Pump filter motor might fail to start due to several reasons. Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a 3-wire outlet protected by a Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, or RCD. Also, the GFCI/RCD circuit breaker may have tripped, in which case you should reset it. If it repeatedly trips, have an electrician check your electrical system. The motor could be too hot, triggering overload protection; let it cool down before restarting. Finally, the pump might be in stand-by/power saving mode.

Inspect the intake line for air leaks by tightening hose nuts and checking for damage, also check pool water level. If the pool is excessively dirty, clean the pre-filtering basket more often. Backwash the filter if the sand media is clogged with dirt. Ensure the nozzle and strainer connections are correctly installed, with the nozzle at the upper position of the pool inlet and the strainer at the lower position of the pool outlet. If there's crusting or caking on the filtering sand surface, remove about 1” of sand if necessary. Also, remove any pool vacuuming device attached to the system.

Use only No. 20 silica sand with a particle size range of 0.45 to 0.85 mm (0.018 to 0.033 inches) and a Uniformity Coefficient less than 1.75. Another reason could be that the sand bed is calcified, in which case you should change the sand.

Drain about 20% of the pool water and add fresh water to decrease the copper ion concentration below 0.2ppm. You can also add aluminum sulfate (around 2g per 1000 liters of water) or aluminum potassium sulfate (around 3g per 1000 liters of water). Additionally, use a lemon-based cleaning product, preferably containing citric acid, to clean the pool. Avoid aggressive cleaning products that might etch the surface.
