Questions and Answers

Why is my Intex Water Pump filter not pumping water or has very slow flow?
    • G
      Gina BlankenshipAug 16, 2025
There are several possible causes. Start by releasing any trapped air in the system, following the operating instructions. Check for and clear any clogs in the inlet or discharge. Inspect the intake line for air leaks, tightening hose clamps and checking for damage; also, ensure the pool water level is adequate. If the pool is excessively dirty, backwash the filter. If the sand media is clogged, remove about 1 inch of sand. Ensure the nozzle and strainer connections aren't reversed, with the nozzle at the upper pool inlet and the strainer at the lower pool outlet. Remove any pool vacuuming device attached to the system line, and make sure the inlet threaded air connector is connected to the pool inlet upper hole.

What to do if my Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC Water Pump filter motor fails to start?
    • K
      Kristi HarrisAug 19, 2025
First, ensure the line cord is plugged into a 3-wire outlet protected by a Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, or RCD. Then, check if the GFCI/RCD circuit breaker has tripped and reset it. If it repeatedly trips, there may be an electrical system defect requiring an electrician. Also, the motor might be too hot; let it cool down before restarting.

How to improve Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC filter cleaning performance?
    • L
      livingstonlawrenceAug 22, 2025
To improve your filter's cleaning performance, first adjust the chlorine and pH levels, consulting your local pool supply store for guidance. Ensure the tank is loaded with filter sand, following the sand loading instructions. Verify the 4-way valve is set to the 'FILTER' position. If the pool is excessively dirty, operate the filter for longer periods. Finally, clean the strainer screen at the inlet to remove any restrictions to the water flow.

How to fix a leaking hose on my Intex Water Pump?
    • J
      Joy SchwartzAug 26, 2025
First, tighten or reinstall the hose clamps to ensure they are well-fitted. If that doesn't solve the problem, check if the hose o-ring is dislodged and put it back into the groove. If the hose is broken, replace it with a new one.

Why is my Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC Water Pump 4-way valve or cover leaking?
    • J
      Jenny ClarkAug 28, 2025
A leak could be due to several reasons. Remove the 4-way valve cover and check if the sand tank o-ring is missing and ensure it is in place. If the o-ring is dirty, clean it with garden hose water. Also, make sure the flange clamp is securely tightened. If the 4-way valve is damaged, contact an Intex service center.

Why is sand flowing back into the pool from my Intex Water Pump?
    • D
      Devin KentAug 31, 2025
This issue can occur if the sand is too small; use only No. 20 silica sand with a particle size range of 0.45 to 0.85 mm (0.018 to 0.033 inches) and a Uniformity Coefficient less than 1.75. Alternatively, the sand bed may be calcified, in which case you should change the sand.

What to do if the pressure gauge on my Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC doesn't work?
    • W
      wesley84Sep 2, 2025
First, check for any obstructions in the intake of the pressure gauge by unscrewing it from the 4-way valve and clearing any debris. If the pressure gauge is damaged, contact an Intex service center.

How to stop an Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC Water Pump air jet valve from leaking?
    • J
      jerry21Sep 6, 2025
Ensure the air jet valve is tightened and facing up. If it continues to leak, turn the pump ON for a few seconds, then turn it OFF, and repeat this process three times. If the internal seal is dirty, remove the air jet valve, flush out dirt with water, and replace the valve. If the air jet valve is broken, replace it with a new one.

What should I do if the timer on my Intex Krystal Clear SF40220RC is inaccurate or can't be set?
    • C
      Christine HernandezSep 8, 2025
Turn off the pump and restart it 5 minutes later. Also, try re-setting the timer. If the issue persists, contact an Intex service center.
  • J
    Jared StephensSep 12, 2025
Why is there a small leak from the air jet valve when my Intex Water Pump is on?
    • S
      sarah51Sep 12, 2025
This can happen if accessories are attached to the water circulation line. Remove all accessories, such as a solar mat, auto pool cleaner, or LED light, from the water circulation line. Then, place the air jet valve cap over the air jet valve. Note: Do not cover the air jet valve with the valve cap under normal operation.
