The Intex Krystal Clear™ Sand Filter Pump is designed to remove suspended particles from pool water, thereby improving water clarity. It utilizes sand as a filtering medium. The pump features a 6-way valve that allows for different operating modes: FILTER (normal filtration and regular vacuuming), BACKWASH (reverses water flow to clean filter media), RINSE (initial startup cleaning of sand and leveling the sand bed after backwashing), WASTE (vacuuming directly to waste, lowering pool level, or draining the pool), RECIRCULATE (circulating water back to pool without going through the filter media), and CLOSED (shuts off all flow to filter and pool – not to be used with pump running). The pump can be operated in a "TIMER" mode for programmed filtering cycles or manually for continuous operation. It also includes a leaf trap to prevent large objects from jamming or damaging the pump.
