When to Use CD-RW Discs
CD-RW enables you to record information to a CD, then rewrite new information to it. Use CD-RW discs for:

Updating important files each week

Backing up data from your hard drive
Advantages of CD-RW over CD-R:

Enables you to erase the data and rewrite new information (for example, updating files)

Enables you to make a practice CD or test the contents of a CD before making a permanent one
NOTE:
Only CD-RW drives can read and write data to CD-RW discs. Multi-read CD-ROM drives can read (but not write) to CD-RW discs.
