Signal Filters
Maximum, Minimum, Average, or Real temperature can be seen continuously on the
display or the linear output. Press MODE twice until MOD. is displayed with select as
follows REAL: The temperature measured is displayed without any filter. PEAK:
Measures the peak temperature (Maximum) and eliminates drops in temperature due to
random interferences such as smoke, steam or dust. Also eliminates gaps between
products. VALLEY (Minimum) mode eliminates momentary temperature rises due to hot
spots on the target.
Caution: Consider all targets being viewed. If the target is intermittent, the instrument
will measure and hold the temperature of a wall or floor that fills the measurement
point.. DELAY(Average) mode averages the temperatures measured. The amount of
averaging depends upon the TIME CONSTANT that is entered into the instrument.
When desired mode is selected press ENT.
Time Constant
To operate the filters requires that a time constant be programmed. Press MODE 3
times to display “TC”, use to select digit. Use key to select the digit value. Use
“ENT” to hold the selected value. “TC” is adjustable from 0.0 to 99.9 seconds. For PEAK
and VALLEY filter, you must set in a delay. A “TC” of 1.0 second means the decay rate
is very fast. As “TC” time increases, the decay rate is slower. For DELAY, the slower
the “TC” is programmed, the greater averaging is affected. If the “TC” is set to HOLD
then in the PEAK or VALLEY mode the Maximum or Minimum value is held without any
decay. In the Delay mode, the temperature measured displayed is based on a “TC” of
99.9 seconds.
Alarms
If AH (high alarm) or AL (low alarm) is programmed: when an alarm point is reached,
the indicator will indicate AH or AL and a beeping will sound for the alarm, To set the
alarm point, press MODE several times until displays “AlmH” or “AlmL”. If alarm is
OFF, press key to turn on the digit display. Press key to select digit and press
key to select value by selecting the most significant digit and press the key until the
display shows “OFF”. This turns off the alarm. Press ENT to hold the selected alarm
value.
Temperature Data Storage
The Ultimax has the ability to store 1000 data points of temperature into memory. Two
modes of collecting data are available, manual and or timed interval.
Manual Mode Storage
Press MODE for two seconds to obtain “MMOD” on the screen. Use key and program
to “Man” for manual or “OFF” for no storage. Press ENT to store the mode selected.
Press MODE to return to the measurement screen. Press MEASURE to collect
temperature data. Data can be stored while measuring temperature by pressing MEM
and DATA STORED will be displayed.
If MEASURE is released and MEM is pressed, only one data point can be stored until a
new measurement is taken.
