1 General information
General Information section explains in general terms the system and the purpose for which it is
intended.
1.1 System overview
The system contains one iRobot Roomba 530, which is connected to a Raspberry Pi 3. Using the
Raspberry Pi, data can be sent and received using a PC application linked to a web server.
There are three modes available on the Roomba.
1. Cleaning. The Roomba will calculate the room size using IR and will adjust its speed in such a
way that the room is as clean as possible after 60 minutes.
2. Max Cleaning. The Roomba will clean the room until it runs out of battery, which will be
after at most 120 minutes.
3. Spot Cleaning. When the Roomba is placed at a certain position and “Spot Cleaning” is
activated, the Roomba will spiral around this position and spiral back, thoroughly cleaning an
area with a diameter of 1 meter.
The web server is used to store the data that’s received from the Raspberry Pi.
The PC application is used to provide a User Interface to communicate with the web server.

In the chapter of getting started the manual explains on how to use this device exactly, and how to
instruct the users.
The last chapter is about the warranty of this product.
