This stitch is used to finish the seam allowance on synthetics
and other fabrics that tend to pucker.
Place your fabric to allow a 1.6 cm (5/8") seam.
Trim the seam allowance after sewing.
Note:
Be careful not to cut the stitches.
It is also handy for darning and mending tears.

Overcasting
The zigzag stitch is used on the seam allowance to prevent
fabric from fraying at raw edges.
Pattern selector: C2, C3
