Note: The clamp arms will open when contact is made with
the drums and close when the drums seat securely in the
clamp
e Raise the carriage slightly to take the weight of the
load. Then put the mast and carriage into the
travel position.
3 Place the Drums
a At the unloading point, position the carriage so
that the drums are above their required position.
Slowly lower the carriage until the drums touch
the ground.
b Slowly withdraw the carriage away from the
drums; the clamp will automatically open.
c Return the mast and carriage to the travel
position.
Handling Irregular Loads
Handle irregular loads only after you fully understand how
to handle palleted loads. The basic procedure is the same
as for palleted loads, but note the following points:
1 Know the load weight and load centre before lifting it.
2 Do not exceed the machine loading limits.
3 Approach the load on centre. Stop the machine,
leaving enough room to manoeuvre the mast and
carriage.
4 Operate the mast and carriage controls only when the
machine is stopped, with the park brake engaged and
the transmission in neutral.
