with a suitab le solvent. Examine all parts carefully
and secure the necessary new parts.
With the transm ission case empty, the interlock
sle ev e and poppet a ssembly s hould be c are fully

he cked. Should th is assembly be too long, it will
be impossible to shif t gears and if it is too short, it
will fail to function as an interlock to prevent
shifting i nto two gea rs at one ti me .

ocate th e second - and-high shift le ver for s ec ond -
gear position and the other shift le ver for ne utr al
position . Use a fee ler gauge to me a sure clearances
as sh ow n in Fig. 190 between the e nds of the
interlock sleeve an d th e not c hed su rf ace of each
sh i ft le ver. C learance must be from .001 " to .007"

sleeve.
To
ob tain correct clear ance, int erloc k sleeves are
available for selective fits. Th e different lengths
can be identified by a lett er at t he en d.
