Now load a second roll of film into the mouth of the reel, just as you did
the first, but concentrate on pressing the film just on the outer layers of
the reel. (You don’t want to advance the inner roll any further.) Continue
to advance the film into the reel, until the trailing end of the film is just
barely inside the mouth of the reel. You’re done.
JOBO’s plastic reels and our stainless steel reels made for JOBO Fototechnic by
Hewes, produce essentially identical results. We have measured the density
characteristics of the 1501 reels versus both of the stainless steel reels (the
traditional versions plus our new ones that fit on our plastic center cores) and we can
find no measurable difference, across the film nor along the length of the film. So
your decision to select either the plastic or the stainless steel reels can be made
simply on your preference for loading styles. The results will be the same with either
version.
