Applications
The TEC3000 Series Wireless Proportional Fan Coil and Individual Zone Thermostat Controllers are wireless
networked devices that provide control of the following:
local hydronic reheat valves
pressure-dependent variable air volume (VAV) equipment with or without local reheat
two- or four-pipe fan coils
cabinet unit heaters
other individual zone equipment using a proportional 0 to 10 VDC control input
The networked models are compatible with the WNC1800/ZFR182x Pro Series Wireless Field Bus System that
enables remote monitoring and programming for efficient space temperature control. All models include a USB port
configuration that reduces installation time by allowing simple backup and restore features from a USB drive, which
enables rapid cloning of configuration between like units.
Some models have occupancy sensing capability built into the device. These thermostat controllers maximize up to
30% energy savings in high-energy usage commercial buildings, such as schools and hotels, during occupied
times by using additional standby setpoints.
All models feature an intuitive UI with backlit display that makes setup and operation quick and easy. Multiple fan
configurations are supported for fan coil equipment types:
single-speed
multi-speed (two or three discrete speeds)
variable-speed/EC motors (0 to 10 VDC control)
Some models support dehumidification on two-pipe fan coil units with reheat, and four-pipe fan coil units with or
without reheat. When no heating is required, the thermostat controller monitors space humidity and activates
dehumidification control as necessary. Heat and reheat is used as required to maintain the space temperature. For
optimal dehumidification performance, use a fan coil unit that has a multi-speed or variable-speed fan (VSF).

What does it mean when my Johnson Controls TEC3010 displays an Open Window error?
    • D
      David GreenAug 29, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays an 'Open Window' error, it means the switch connected to the BI configured for Open Window is sensing that a window is open, and control has been shut down. Here's how to resolve it: 1. Close the window to resume control. 2. Check the sensor functionality with an ohmmeter, and verify the wiring to the TEC. 3. If problems persist, order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

Why does my Johnson Controls TEC3010 Controller say 'Cooling Unavailable due to Control Mode' or 'Heating Unavailable due to Control Mode'?
    • M
      Michael AllenAug 30, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Idle' with a unit status of 'Cooling Unavailable due to Control Mode' (even when above the cooling setpoint) or 'Heating Unavailable due to Control Mode' (even when below the heating setpoint), it indicates that the control mode setting is incorrect. Here’s what you should do: * If the Control Mode is set to 'Cooling Mode' but the controller is requesting heating, change the Control Mode to 'Auto' or 'Heating'. * If the Control Mode is set to 'Heating Mode' but the controller is requesting cooling, change the Control Mode to 'Auto' or 'Cooling'.

Why is my Zone Temperature Too Cold according to my Johnson Controls TEC3010 Controller?
    • Q
      qharveyAug 30, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller indicates that the zone temperature is too cold, it means the zone temperature has dropped below the configured Zone Temp Low Limit. To address this, verify that the TEC and the RTU heating are both enabled and functioning correctly.

How to fix Outdoor Temp Fail on Johnson Controls Controller?
    • S
      Sandra SmithAug 25, 2025
If you are experiencing an Outdoor Temp Fail error with your Johnson Controls Controller, it means the external outdoor air temperature sensor is either disconnected or has failed. Here's what you can do: 1. Check the sensor's wiring. 2. If the sensor was intentionally disconnected, reset the sensors through the menu. 3. If the issue continues, you should order replacement units and return the faulty devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

What does the Service alarm mean on my Johnson Controls TEC3010?
    • A
      Amy Morgan MDSep 1, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller is showing a 'Service' alarm, it indicates that equipment connected to the BI configured for a Service alarm is triggering the alarm. You should service the equipment following the manufacturer's recommendations.

Why does Johnson Controls TEC3010 display 'Cooling Unavailable' or 'Heating Unavailable' when it should be cooling or heating?
    • M
      martinezmorganSep 2, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Idle' with a unit status of 'Cooling Unavailable' (despite being above the cooling setpoint) or 'Heating Unavailable' (despite being below the heating setpoint), it means the 'Number of Compressors' is set to 'Not Used' while the controller is requesting cooling, or the 'Number of Heating Stages' is set to 'Not Used'. To fix this, adjust the number of compressors and heating stages to match the actual configuration of the unit.
