7 OPERATING PROCEDURE
7.1 INTRODUCTION
The MPA-system is a marine and oshore Public Address system. It meets the requirements for PA/GA, entertainment and
distribuon on board ships and mobile oshore units. The system conforms to SOLAS, IMO and IEC regulaons. Based on
module design and exible conguraon, it covers a wide range of installaon complexies – ranging from small single loop
systems to large duplicated systems. The operator panels are available in dierent layouts, with or without alarm buons.
These panels are listed below:
1601 – Access panel with zone and EM/PA buons, but without alarm/cancel buons. For ush mounng.
1603 – Alarm panel with only alarm/cancel buons. For ush mounng.
1605 – Access panel with zone, EM/PA, and Alarm/cancel buons. For table top mounng.
1606 – Access panel with zone, EM/PA, and Alarm/cancel buons. For 19”/ ush mounng.
1643 – Access panel with zone, EM/PA, and Alarm/cancel buons. For wall/desk mounng in E.X areas.
The MPA-system allows operators to perform paging, emergency paging and acve alarms from suitable operator panels.
Oponal entertainment funcons are also provided.
7.2 PREREQUISITES
This operang descripon is based on a IMO/SOLAS-compliant conguraon. To reproduce this, please make sure that:
• The system is set to be a duplicated system.
• Ampliers have the correct preset.
• Control units have been set up with aenon tones “dongding.mp3” for EMPA and “dingdong.mp3” for PA.
• Delayed acvaon has been set for Alarm, EMPA and Cancel buons on the Control Units.
• Zone selecon for EMPA is all zones.
• There are at least two alarms enabled, with “GeneralAlarm.mpal” and “FireAlarm.mpal” as alarm tones.
• General Alarm must have the highest priority.
• The user buses for connected access panels have been enabled and priority is correctly set.
• External Alarms input are congured for re detecon system
(applies if re alarm is integrated into the PA/GA system).
• “No PA under alarm” and “No alarm under EMPA” has been checked (enabled).
These can be found under the “Advanced”-tab.
• “Enable NORSOK” is not checked (disabled). This can be found under the “Advanced”-tab.
7.3 OPERATING DESCRIPTION
7.3.1 EMERGENCY PAGING
Emergency Paging (EM PA) is the highest priority paging method within the MPA 1600 system.
7.3.1.1 PRIORITY
• EM PA overrides any audible entertainment channels within the system while acve.
• EM PA overrides any external entertainment systems by means of an entertainment signal while acve
(see chapter 5.4 and 10.2).
• EM PA overrides any volume controls (entertainment) while acve.
• EM PA overrides normal paging (PA).
• EM PA overrides General Alarm (GA) and other audible alarms while acve.
• EM PA overrides external GA systems by means of an external GA mute signal while acve
(see chapter 4.4 and 9.3).
