Overview

The KAIWEETS VT500 is a voltage tester designed for various electrical measurements and safety checks. It functions as an inductive measuring device, an AC voltage detector, a continuity tester, and a battery polarity detector.

Function Description:

The primary function of the VT500 is to detect AC voltage without direct contact, making it suitable for identifying live and null wires and finding breakpoints in wires. When the probe is brought close to an AC voltage source, the device emits a buzzer sound, and the voltage level is displayed on the screen. The frequency of the buzzer sound increases with higher voltage, and the display indicates "HI" for high voltage and "U" for low voltage.

In AC Voltage Detection mode, the tester displays the AC voltage reading when the test probe contacts an AC voltage source. This mode also helps distinguish between zero and live wires based on the voltage reading.

For Continuity Detection, the user holds one end of an uncharged wire and touches the other end with the test probe. If the wire is connected correctly, the screen displays "- - C" and the buzzer sounds. If the wire is open, there is no response.

The Battery Polarity Detection function allows users to check the polarity of batteries. By touching the test probe to the positive terminal and holding the negative terminal, the screen displays "- P" and the buzzer sounds if the polarity is correct. If connected in reverse, the device does not respond.

The device also features a built-in flashlight for working in dimly lit environments.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • AC Voltage Range: 12~300V
  • Frequency: 50/60HZ
  • Measurement Error: ± (5%+3)
  • Operating Temperature: 0~40°C
  • Storage Temperature: -10~50°C
  • Humidity: ≤95%
  • Altitude: ≤2000m
  • Safety Compliance: CAT.II 300V
  • Battery: 1×1.5V AAA

Usage Features:

  • Power On/Off: The tester is turned on and off by pressing the power button for more than 1 second.
  • Flashlight: When the tester is on, pressing the flashlight key turns the flashlight on; pressing it again turns it off.
  • Auto Shut-off: The device automatically powers off after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
  • Low Battery Indication: A " " symbol appears on the screen when the battery voltage is low, indicating that the battery needs replacement.
  • Safety Warning: The manual emphasizes the importance of testing on a known live power supply before use to ensure the detector is in good condition. Users are advised to be extremely careful when testing voltages above 30V due to the risk of electric shock. The protection mechanism may be ineffective if the manual instructions are not followed. The device should not be used if damaged or malfunctioning.
  • Red Backlight Indication: When the backlight turns red, it indicates that the object under test may be dangerous, and caution should be exercised.
  • Human Contact Requirement: For certain functions, such as AC voltage detection and continuity/polarity tests, the voltage detector requires human contact with the buttons to form a circuit.
  • Socket Structure Considerations: Irregular socket structures might hinder the identification of live or null wires. In such cases, switching to "AC Voltage Detection" mode and relying on voltage readings is recommended.
  • Close Wires: If live and null wires are too close, separating them as much as possible is advised for accurate detection. If separation is not possible, distinguishing them based on the buzzer's highest frequency and the "HI" display symbol for the live wire is necessary.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: To replace the battery, the battery cover should be pushed off, and a new 1.5V AAA battery inserted, observing the correct polarity. It is crucial not to use the tester to test electricity before locking the battery cover to prevent electric shock.
  • Cleaning: The voltage tester can be cleaned with a wet cloth. It is important to ensure the device is completely dry before use.
  • Warranty: All KAIWEETS products, including the VT500, come with a three-year warranty from the date of purchase.
