Keysight N778xC Series Polarization Instruments User’s Guide 45
Definition of Terms 3
This section defines terms that are used in this document.
Specification
Describes warranted product performance that is valid under the specified
conditions. Specifications include guard bands to account for the expected
statistical performance distribution, measurement uncertainties, changes
in performance due to environmental changes and aging of components.
Typical Value (Characteristics)
Characteristics describe the product performance that is usually met but
not guaranteed. Typical values are based on data from a representative set
of instruments.
Generally, all specifications are valid within the specified temperature
range, after warm-up, at the stated operating conditions and
measurement settings.
Operating Conditions
The environmental conditions for system operation. The system must not
be operated outside these conditions.
Specified Temperature
The temperature range where the specifications apply (if not differently
stated).
Ambient Temperature Range
Temperature range of the ambient environment where specifications
apply.
Operating Wavelength Range
The wavelength range in which the instrument's internal optics can be
used.
Specification Wavelength Range
The wavelength range in which the specified optical performance is met.
