Overview

The KING-METER 790-R LED display is a user-friendly interface designed to enhance your e-bike riding experience by providing essential information and control functions. This manual guides you through every aspect of the display, from its physical characteristics and installation to its various operational modes and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The 790-R LED display serves as the central control and information hub for your e-bike. It offers a range of functions to manage your ride and monitor the e-bike's status. Key functions include:

  • Battery Indication: Provides a clear visual representation of your e-bike's battery charge level, allowing you to plan your rides effectively and avoid unexpected power loss.
  • PAS Level Indication: Displays the current Pedal Assist System (PAS) level, indicating the amount of motor assistance you are receiving. This allows you to adjust the power output to match your riding conditions and preferences.
  • 6km/h Walk Assist Function Indication: Notifies you when the walk assist function is active, providing a constant low-speed assistance for pushing the e-bike.
  • Headlight On and Off Control: Enables you to easily switch your e-bike's front light on or off directly from the display, enhancing safety during low-light conditions.
  • Error Code Display: In the event of an e-bike electronic control system failure, the display will flash LED lights to indicate specific error codes, helping you diagnose and address issues.
  • RFID Function: Incorporates a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) system for enhanced security and personalized access to your e-bike. This feature allows for binding and swiping RFID cards to activate and manage the display.

Usage Features

The 790-R LED display is designed for intuitive operation, making it easy for riders to access and control their e-bike's features.

Power ON/OFF:

To power on the display and activate the e-bike's controller, simply short press the ON/OFF button. In the power-on state, another short press of the ON/OFF button will turn off the e-bike's power. The display is designed to minimize battery drain, with a leakage current of less than 1uA in shutdown mode. For energy efficiency, the display will automatically shut down if the e-bike is not used for more than 10 minutes.

RFID Functionality:

The RFID system offers a secure way to manage your e-bike.

  • Binding RFID Card: To bind a new RFID card, swipe the main card in the prompt swiping interface. After the battery light flashes, turn off and then turn on the battery again to enter the card matching interface. The display will guide you through matching the main card, followed by up to two secondary cards. During this process, specific battery lights will illuminate and flash to indicate the current card being matched. Once all cards are configured, the battery indicator flashes, and the display shuts down. Powering on again will activate the newly equipped cards.
  • Swipe RFID Card: When the display is turned on normally, it will enter a prompt swiping interface. The level indication will cycle from high to low until a card is swiped. Swiping a secondary card will directly enter the main interface and allow you to start riding. Swiping the main card will cause the power indicator to flash, then shut down, and power on again to enter the card matching interface, allowing for re-binding or management of cards.

6km/h Walk Assist Function:

For situations where you need to push your e-bike, such as walking up a ramp or through a crowded area, the 6km/h walk assist function provides convenient low-speed assistance. To activate this feature, hold the MODE button for 2 seconds. The e-bike will then maintain a constant speed of 6 km/h. During walk assist, the PAS level indicator will not be displayed. It is crucial to remember that this function is intended only for pushing the e-bike and should not be used while riding.

Headlight Control:

The dedicated LIGHT button provides easy control over your e-bike's front light. Pressing the LIGHT button will send a signal to the controller to turn on the front light. Pressing it again will turn the headlights off.

PAS Level Setting:

The Pedal Assist System (PAS) allows you to adjust the amount of motor assistance you receive. A short press of the MODE button will cycle through the available power-assisted levels, changing the output power of the motor. The default output power range is typically 0-3 levels, where level 0 provides no output, level 1 is the lowest power, and level 3 is the highest power. The display defaults to level 1 when powered on.

Battery Indication:

The display provides a clear visual representation of your battery's charge status. When the battery voltage is high, all four LED power indicators will be illuminated. As the battery voltage decreases, fewer lights will be on. When the battery is seriously under voltage, the last power indicator will flash continuously, signaling that the battery needs to be charged immediately to avoid running out of power.

Maintenance Features

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your 790-R LED display, several precautions and maintenance guidelines are provided.

General Precautions:

  • Safety First: Always prioritize safety during use. Avoid plugging or unplugging the display when the e-bike's power is on, as this can cause damage to the system.
  • Handle with Care: The display is a sensitive electronic component. Avoid striking or knocking the display, as physical impact can lead to internal damage or malfunction.
  • Waterproofing: The display is designed with a waterproof film. Do not remove this film, as doing so will compromise its waterproofing capabilities and expose the internal components to moisture, potentially leading to failure.
  • System Parameters: Refrain from modifying system parameters unless you are an authorized technician. Incorrect parameter adjustments can lead to system disorder and affect the e-bike's performance.
  • Troubleshooting Malfunctions: In the event of errors or malfunctions that you cannot resolve using the provided troubleshooting information, it is recommended to return the display to your local supplier for professional repairs or replacements.

Error Code Display and Resolution:

The 790-R LED display is equipped with an error code system to help identify issues within the e-bike's electronic control system. When a fault occurs, the display will automatically flash LED lights to indicate a specific error code. A detailed list of error codes and their definitions can be found in the attached table.

  • Fault Indication: The fault display interface will remain active until the underlying fault is eliminated. During this time, the e-bike will not be able to continue driving, ensuring safety and preventing further damage.
  • Troubleshooting Steps: If you encounter an error code, refer to the "Error code definition table" to understand the nature of the problem. For complex issues or persistent errors, it is advisable to contact an e-bike maintenance station for professional assistance.
