Overview

This document serves as a user guide for the KING-METER Digital_II display, designed to enhance the performance and user experience of e-bikes. It provides comprehensive instructions on installation, operation, and various settings, aiming to help users understand and troubleshoot the device effectively.

Function Description

The Digital_II display offers a wide array of functions to cater to diverse riding needs. Key functionalities include:

  • Battery Power Indication: Displays the current battery charge level, allowing riders to monitor their power consumption. When the battery voltage is high, a five-segment LCD is illuminated. In cases of undervoltage, the outer frame of the battery icon flashes, signaling the need for immediate charging.
  • Speed Indication: Provides real-time speed, maximum speed, and average speed readings. This allows riders to track their velocity and performance during rides.
  • Distance Indication: Shows both trip distance (distance covered in a single ride) and total distance (cumulative distance). This helps in monitoring ride progress and overall usage.
  • Single Riding Time Indication: Tracks the duration of a single ride, useful for timing and performance analysis.
  • Walk Assist Indication: Activates a walk assist mode, which propels the e-bike at a uniform speed of 6 Km/h, ideal for pushing the bike manually.
  • Backlight Indication: Controls the display's backlight, which can be turned on or off to improve visibility in different lighting conditions. It also activates the controller's headlight.
  • Error Code Indication: Automatically displays error codes if the e-bike's electronic control system malfunctions, aiding in quick diagnosis.
  • Various Setting Parameters: Allows users to customize various aspects of their e-bike's operation, including wheel size, speed limit, PAS levels, and system settings.
  • Default Parameter Restore Function: Enables users to revert all settings to their factory defaults if needed.

Usage Features

The Digital_II display is designed for intuitive and user-friendly operation.

  • Power On/Off: The display is powered on by a long press of the MODE button, which also powers on the controller. A subsequent long press of MODE will shut down the display, minimizing battery drain with a leakage current of less than 1µA. For convenience, the display automatically shuts down if the e-bike is unused for more than 10 minutes.
  • User Interface Navigation: After powering on, the display defaults to showing real-time speed. A short press of the MODE button cycles through real-time speed, average speed, and maximum speed. To switch between total distance, single trip distance, and single riding time, users press MODE and DOWN simultaneously for 2 seconds.
  • Walk Assist Activation: To engage the walk assist mode, users press DOWN for more than 2 seconds. The e-bike will then move at a steady 6 Km/h, with "6KM" flashing on the screen. It is crucial to remember that this function is strictly for pushing the e-bike by hand and should not be used while riding.
  • Backlight Control: The backlight can be turned on by pressing UP for more than 2 seconds, which also activates the controller's headlight. Pressing UP again for more than 2 seconds will turn the backlight off.
  • PAS Level Setting: Short presses of UP or DOWN allow users to switch between PAS (Pedal Assist System) levels, thereby adjusting the motor's output power. The display typically offers 1-5 levels, with level 1 being the default upon startup.
  • General Settings Access: To enter the general setting state, users press UP and DOWN simultaneously for 2 seconds while the display is on. This interface allows for resetting trip distance and adjusting backlight brightness.
  • Password Protection: The display incorporates password-protected settings. A default password (1234) is required to access the password setting interface, where users can enable or disable a power-on password and modify it. A separate permission password (0512) is needed to access use parameter settings, such as wheel size and speed limit.
  • Personalized Settings: For advanced customization, the display offers a personalized setting interface, accessible by pressing UP and DOWN simultaneously for 2 seconds, and then repeating the action. This section, protected by a permission password (2962), allows adjustments to battery power, PAS parameters, current limit, PAS sensor settings, speed sensor settings, throttle function, and system settings.
  • Parameter Adjustment: Within setting menus, UP and DOWN buttons are used to increase or decrease values, while MODE is used to confirm selections and move to the next setting. A long press of MODE typically saves changes and exits the setting state.
  • Default Settings Restoration: To restore default parameters, users press UP and hold MODE for 2 seconds. A permission password (0368) is required to confirm the restoration, after which the display automatically exits the setting state. Note that battery power, ODO, and trip distance are not restored, but the power-on password can be.

Maintenance Features

The Digital_II display is designed for durability and ease of maintenance, with clear guidelines for ensuring its longevity and proper functioning.

  • Installation: Installation is straightforward; with the e-bike powered off, users simply connect the display's connector to the corresponding controller connector and adjust the display to a suitable viewing angle.
  • Waterproof Performance: The display is equipped with a waterproof sticker film. Users are advised not to remove this film to maintain its waterproof integrity.
  • Parameter Modification: Users are cautioned against modifying the display's parameters and settings without understanding their implications, as incorrect adjustments can negatively impact the riding experience.
  • Malfunction Resolution: In the event of a malfunction, the display should be repaired as soon as possible. The error code indication feature helps in diagnosing issues, and a detailed error code table is provided in Appendix 1 for reference. For any faults, users are advised to check the connector between the display and controller or take the e-bike to a maintenance place.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a limited warranty of 24 months from delivery, covering faults caused by quality problems under normal use. However, the warranty does not cover damages resulting from opening the housing, damaged connectors, scratched or damaged housing, scratched or broken cables, force majeure events (such as fires, earthquakes, or thunder), or expired warranty periods.
  • Software Version: The user guide is based on general-purpose software (V1.0) from Tianjin King-Meter Electronic Co., Ltd. Users should be aware that the software version on their specific e-bike might vary slightly, and the actual version in use should be considered for any discrepancies.
