12. Rip Cutting Using the Edge Guide
(not included)
The edge guide allows you to make accurate
parallel cuts when trimming a workpiece.
WARNING
• ALWAYS remove the battery before assembling
any accessories. Failure to do so could result
in accidental starting, which can cause serious
personal injury.
a. Remove the battery pack.
b. Slide the arm of the edge guide into the edge-
guide slot (V) at the front of the saw foot.
c. Adjust the edge guide to the desired width of cut. Screw the edge-guide locking knob into
the edge-guide locking knob (W).
d. Clamp and support the workpiece securely before making your cut.
e. Place the edge guide rmly against the edge of the workpiece. Doing so will give you a
true cut without pinching the blade.
f. BE SURE that the guiding edge of the workpiece is straight so you can get a straight cut.
g. ALWAYS LET THE BLADE REACH FULL SPEED, then carefully guide the saw into the
workpiece.
13. Bevel Cutting
To make the best possible cut:
a. Adjust the bevel angle to any desired setting
between 0° and 50°.
b. Align the cutting line with the 45° blade-guide
notch (S) on the foot when making 45° bevel
cuts.
c. Make a trial cut in scrap material along a
guideline to determine the amount to offset the
guideline on the workpiece.
WARNING
• Attempting a bevel cut without having the bevel-
locking lever securely locked in place can result
in serious injury.
d. Hold the saw rmly with both hands, as shown.
e. Rest the front edge of the foot on the workpiece without touching the workpiece with the
blade.
f. Start the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed.
g. Guide the saw into the workpiece, and make the cut.
h. Release the trigger switch and allow the blade to come to a complete stop.
i. Lift the saw from the workpiece
