Appliance Loads
Generatorsetsin recreationalvehicles areoften usedto
furnish AC for appliances such as TV, stereo, electric
water heaters, etc. With the exception of the
resistance-type loads such as the water heater,
requirementsforappliancesareusuallylow. Suchloads
must not, however, be overlooked when figuring total
requirements. Reserve capacity should be available for
anticipated appliance loads to avoid overloading of a
set. Theaveragepowerrequirementsofsomeelectrical
appliances are listed in Figure 6-3 and Figure 6-4.
Kilowatt Derating
All units arerated 1.0 power factor. The kilowatts of the
generator set will decrease 3.5% per 1000 ft. (305 m)
above 500 ft. (152 m) above sea level. Derate 1% for
every 10_F (5.5_C) above 85_F (30_C).
Compartment Size
When planning compartment size requirements, allow
theminimumclearances for cooling of the generatorset
as shown in Figure 6-5.
NOTE
Since the sets are flexibly mounted, the minimum
clearanceswillassurethatthesidesofthecompartment
and the set will not rub while the set is in operation or
while the vehicle is in transit.

NOTE
Minimum clearances listed for cooling air circulation.
Additional clearance is required for routine servicing of
the generator set.
