This document is a user manual for KoolMore Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers, covering various models including KM-RMD12WH, KM-RMD20WH (refrigerators) and KM-FMD12WH, KM-FMD12WGD, KM-FMD12SGD, KM-FMD20WH, KM-FMD20WGD, KM-FMD20SGD, and KM-MDF46GD (freezers). It provides essential information for safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.
Function Description
The KoolMore Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers are designed for household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas in workplaces, farmhouses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and non-retail catering applications. These appliances are intended for storing food items at specific temperatures to preserve their quality and extend shelf life. The manual outlines different compartment types, such as Fridge, ()-Freezer, ()-Freezer, (*)-Freezer, (*)-Freezer, and Subzero, each designated for particular food types and storage durations.
Important Technical Specifications
The appliances operate on a single-phase alternating current of 115V/60Hz. The refrigerant used is R290, which is flammable and requires professional disposal.
Temperature ranges for different compartments are specified:
- Fridge: +35.6°F to +42.8°F, ideal for eggs, prepared meals, packaged food, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, pastries, and beverages.
- ()-Freezer:** ≤-0.4°F, optimal for freezing seafood, freshwater aquatic products, meat products, and ice cream, maintaining quality for up to 3 months.
- ()-Freezer:** ≤-0.4°F, primarily for seafood, freshwater aquatic products, and meat products, maintaining quality for up to 3 months, not suitable for freezing fresh food.
- ()-Freezer:** ≤+10.4°F, suitable for storing seafood, freshwater aquatic products, and meat products for up to 2 months, not recommended for freezing fresh food.
- (*)-Freezer: ≤21.2°F, designated for seafood, freshwater aquatic products, and meat products for a maximum of 1 month, not advised for freezing fresh food.
- Subzero: 32°F to 21.2°F, primarily used for chilling beers.
The temperature can be adjusted using an electronic controller within a range of -18°C to -22°C (-0.4°F to -7.6°F) for freezers.
Climate classes indicate the ambient temperature and humidity ranges for optimal operation:
- Class 3: 77°F, 60% RH
- Class 4: 86°F, 55% RH
- Class 5: 104°F, 40% RH
- Class 7: 95°F, 75% RH
Operating the appliance outside its designated climate class can lead to decreased performance, increased energy consumption, and potential damage.
Electrical safety requires proper grounding and connection to a 13 amp fuse approved to BS1363/A standards. The power socket should be easily accessible and suitable for the appliance's maximum power.
Usage Features
Installation:
- Ensure correct electrical connections.
- Inspect for damages upon unpacking; do not connect if damaged.
- Wait at least four hours after unpacking before connecting to allow oil to flow back into the compressor.
- Ensure adequate air circulation: 3 inches from the back to the wall, at least 4 inches on the sides, and over 4 inches from the top.
- Avoid positioning near radiators or cookers.
- The mains plug must be easily accessible after installation.
- The appliance should be level to eliminate vibration, with adjusters in stable contact with the floor.
- Allow the unit to operate for about 1 hour to cool before placing items inside.
First Use:
- Remove all packaging materials and ventilate the appliance.
- Clean the interior before first use.
- Insert the power supply plug into a grounded, single-phase 115V wall outlet.
- Allow the unit to cool for about 1 hour before placing items inside.
Restarting:
- Wait at least 5 minutes after turning off before restarting to prevent damage to the compressor or electrical system.
Efficient Use:
- Open and close doors quickly to minimize cold air escape.
- Install in a well-ventilated location.
- Do not store water or food requiring water as a storage medium directly in the unit.
- Cool hot food to room temperature before placing it in the freezer to avoid affecting other foods and increasing power consumption.
Temperature Adjustment:
- Press the "set" button, then use the "up" and "down" buttons to adjust the temperature.
- Press "set" again to confirm.
Safety Checks:
- Ensure the power cord plug is firmly inserted and not abnormally hot.
- Check the power cord for cracks or damage; contact customer service if irregularities are found.
Special Instructions for Food Storage:
- Avoid direct contact between refrigerating food and the inner box surface.
- Seal different food items separately when freezing to prevent moisture loss and odor.
- Use non-toxic, tasteless, impermeable, and waterproof sealing material.
- Two-star freezer compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, making ice cream, and ice cubes, but not for freezing fresh food.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- CAUTION: Always turn off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
- Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For heavy soil, use a cloth moistened with detergent, then wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
- Interior: Open the door and wipe clean with a dry cloth.
- WARNING: Do not splash water directly on the freezer or wash with water to avoid short circuits or electrical shock.
- Do not use polishing powder, soap powder, benzine, oil, or hot water as these can damage paint and plastic.
- Keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction.
- Use a plastic scraper to remove frost, not sharp objects.
Defrosting:
- Defrost the freezer compartment two or three times a year when ice is about 1/8 inch thick.
- Set the thermostat to "Colder" at least 12 hours before defrosting.
- Switch off the freezer by removing the plug from the main power supply.
- Remove all food, wrap in paper, and store in a cold place. Leave the door open.
- After defrosting, clean and wipe the compartment dry.
- Switch the appliance back on with the thermostat set to "Colder" and wait at least one hour before replacing foodstuffs.
- After a few hours, reset the thermostat to the original position.
- WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other artificial means to accelerate defrosting, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
- WARNING: Do not use electrical appliances inside food storage compartments unless recommended by the manufacturer.
Servicing and Repairs:
- All electrical work must be carried out by qualified electricians or competent individuals.
- Service must be performed by an authorized Service Center using only genuine spare parts.
- If the LED light is damaged, it should not be replaced by the user; contact customer helpline.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as:
- Not Cooling: Check power supply, cord, fuse/circuit breaker, and thermostat setting.
- Inefficient Cooling: Ensure proper ventilation, avoid frequent door openings, do not overstock, adjust temperature, and defrost if excessive frost is present.
- Excessive Noise: Verify the floor is sturdy, and the unit is not shaking or rattling. Ensure the rear panel is not in contact with a wall.
- Condensation: Normal on hot, humid days; wipe away with a dry cloth.
- Exterior Feels Hot: Normal in summer or when the freezer first starts; due to heat radiating pipe design.
