What to do if KTM Motorcycle engine turns but does not start?
- RRobert DavisJul 30, 2025
If the engine of your KTM Motorcycle turns over but fails to start, first ensure the plug-in connection of the fuel hose is securely connected. Other potential causes include a clogged fuel screen in the fuel hose connection, which requires changing the fuel screen, or an incorrectly set idle speed, which needs adjustment. A spark plug that's oily or wet should be cleaned and dried, or replaced if necessary. Also, check the spark plug electrode distance (plug gap) and adjust it to the guideline of 0.8 mm (0.031 in) if it is too wide. Finally, inspect the wiring harness for frayed short circuit cables and the kill switch for defects, and have the fuel injection system checked for defects using the KTM diagnostics tool.
