User Interface
In the stand-alone mode of operation, SC-5500 control is obtained through the buttons on the
front panel of the instrument. A list of SC-5500 control features is provided here for user refer-
ence. The front panel of the SC-5500 is illustrated in Figure 1.
POWER
Power to the SC-5500 Integrating Sphere System Control is activated through the front-panel
rocker switch. Pressing the switch to the ON
I position activates instrument power, turns on the
green light directly above the power switch, and a enables the LCD display. Pressing the switch
to the OFF
O position deactivates the instrument.
LCD Display
The display panel consists of a two-row backlit LCD digital readout. It may be set for either ana-
log or digital readings. The backlight may be turned off for dark room use. The LCD window
displays a continuous detector readout during normal radiometer operation. When accessing SC-
5500 control features, the window displays the menu options associated with each feature. To
return to the detector readout display at any time, press the CAL button.
CAL
The CAL button provides operator access to the pre-programmed calibration coefficients
embedded within the SC-5500 firmware. When the CAL button is selected, the LCD window
displays the detector readout using the currently selected calibration coefficient. At startup, the
CAL1 calibrated readout will be displayed. To switch the radiometer to an alternate calibration,
press CAL repeatedly until the appropriate calibration coefficient is displayed.
OPTIONS
The OPTIONS button gives the operator access to the programmed features of the SC-5500 Inte-
grating Sphere System Control. Repeated selection of this button scrolls the user through the
Options Menu in the order displayed by Figure 7. The operator can scroll through the possible
parameter options for each menu option through the Up
or Down buttons at the right. The
selections from the Options Menu are not stored on EPROM - the next time you power up your
SC-5500, the default parameters will be restored.
