What to do if my LaCie Desktop drive is not recognized by the computer?
    • B
      Brenda FergusonJul 26, 2025
First, check both ends of the USB cable to ensure they are fully seated in their ports. Try disconnecting the cable, waiting 10 seconds, and then reconnecting it. If the LaCie Storage drive is still not recognized, restart your computer and try again. Also, ensure the power supply is properly connected and the outlet is working, and that the drive has been turned on.

Why is my LaCie Desktop Storage drive not running faster via USB 2.0?
    • J
      John SwansonAug 3, 2025
If your LaCie Storage drive is connected to a USB 1.1 port or hub, it will operate at slower USB 1.1 transfer rates. A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 device can only operate at Hi-Speed USB 2.0 performance levels when connected directly to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port or hub.

What to do if I get error messages under Mac OS 10.x with my LaCie Desktop Storage?

If you receive error messages when the LaCie drive comes out of sleep mode, ignore the message. The drive will remount to the desktop. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode, and when the computer is “revived” from sleep, it does not give the drive enough time to spin up from its sleep mode.

What to do if the system fan is not running on my LaCie Desktop Storage?
    • R

Confirm the outlet is powered, verify power connections, and try an alternate power cable. The fan on the LaCie Hard Drive does not run continuously; it is activated above certain temperatures.
