GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
Ignition System
(See Figs. 3-17)
■ Remove the spark plug cap. Fully cover the spark plug using the provided socket wrench. Rotate
the wrench counter-clockwise to remove the spark plug.
■ Check and remove the carbon deposit in the spark plug. The spark plug gap should be 0.026”±0.002”
(0.65±0.05mm). Inspect the electrodes for wear and deposits (Fig. 3).
■ Install the spark plug into the spark plug cap. Contact the negative electrode to the aluminum part
(Fig. 4 & 5).

Engine Compression
(See Figs. 1-2)
Low compression will cause erratic idling, low power, and hard starting when hot. To test the engine
compression:
■ Remove the spark plug cap. Fully cover the spark plug using the provided socket wrench. Rotate
the wrench counter-clockwise to remove the spark plug (Fig. 1).
■ Rotate a compression gauge into the spark plug hole (Fig. 2). Insert the battery pack into the battery
slot. Lift the start button cover and press the start button. Test the engine compression. Engine
compression should be >0.6MPa.
