Lens hoods
All Leica M lenses are supplied with various func-
tionally designed lens hoods. On several lenses
they are built in and telescopically extending.
The lens hood should always remain extended or
attached for as long as the camera is ready to use.
It provides effective protection against contrast-
reducing stray light and also against damage and
soiling of the front lens, e.g. from accidental fin-
gerprints.
Important: If the camera is not needed or is set
aside, the lens cap should always be fitted to pro-
tect the shutter.
Use of previous Leica M lenses
All Leica M lenses can be used. However, the
following are not compatible with the exposure
metering function:
Hologon 1:8/15mm,
Super-Angulon-M 1:4/21mm
Super-Angulon-M 1:3.4/21mm
Elmarit-M 1:2.8/28mm up to serial no. 2314921.
When changing the following lens, it must be set
to infinity:
Summicron 1:2/50mm with close focusing.
