2.5 General Operating Principle
The TScan sensor is a triangulation scanner using an optically amplified laser
line observed by a 2D imaging sensor.
The TScan sensor has a working range (measurement depth) of approxi-
mately ±50 mm. The mid working distance is the distance from the housing
to the centre of the working range. This distance is also called Stand-off and
amounts approximately 150 mm. The usable scan width at stand-off is
approximately 100 mm.

e Working range
In order to facilitate the positioning of the TScan sensor, the sensor emits a
pilot beam. The pilot beam intersects the laser beam at the centre of the
working range. If the pilot beam is underneath the scan line, the distance
between sensor and measuring object is too small. If the pilot beam is above
the scan line, the distance is too large.
