Powerproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerbutton.Referto“Statusindicators”onpage6.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
firmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
5.Removealldevicesandthentestforsystempowerwithminimaldevicesattached.
a.Disconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
b.Closethecomputerdisplay,andturnthecomputerover.
c.Removethebattery.Referto“Replacingthebattery”onpage113.
d.Removethememorymodule.Referto“Replacingamemorymodule”onpage128.
e.RemovetheWirelessLANcard.Referto“ReplacingawirelessLANcard”onpage126.
f.Removetheharddiskdriveorhybriddrive.Referto“Replacingthestoragedrive”onpage120.
g.Waitfor30seconds,andthenreinstallthememorymoduleandtheknowngoodbatteryortheac
poweradaptertotestthecomputerwithminimaldevicesattachedfirst.
h.Reinstalleachdeviceoneatatimethatyouhaveremovedintheearliersteps.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Removeandreseatthebatterytomakesurethatitisproperlyconnected.Referto“Replacingthe
battery”onpage113.
2.Swapbatterieswithanothersimilarmodel,ifavailable.
IfanothersimilarThinkPadmodelisavailable,thenverifythatthebatteryworksintheothercomputer
andthatthebatteryfortheothermodelworksinthiscomputer.
Apowerbuttonproblem
Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
Bootproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepthemwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyoureceiveanerrormessagebeforetheoperatingsystemloads,followtheappropriatecorrectiveactions
