2. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 33.
3. Locate the battery. See “System-board internal connectors” on page 26.
4. Remove any parts that may prevent your access to the battery.
5. Remove the old battery.
6. Install a new battery.
7. Reinstall any internal parts that have been removed.
8. Reinstall the server cover and reconnect the cables. See “Completing the parts
replacement” on page 61.
9. Turn on the server and all attached devices.
Note: When the server is turned on for the first time after replacing the
battery, an error message might be displayed. This is normal after replacing
the battery.
10. Use the Setup Utility program to set the date, time, and any passwords. See
Chapter 8, “Configuring the server,” on page 79.
Installing or replacing a memory module
Attention
Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and
understanding the Chapter 1, “About this manual,” on page 1 and the Safety

This section provides instructions on how to install or replace a memory module.
Your server has four slots for installing or replacing memory modules. When
installing or replacing a memory module, use the following guidelines:
v Use DDR3 ECC UDIMMs for your server.
