• Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC)
The Lenovo XClarity Controller is the common management controller for Lenovo ThinkSystem server
hardware. The Lenovo XClarity Controller consolidates multiple management functions in a single chip on
the server system board. Some of the features that are unique to the Lenovo XClarity Controller are
enhanced performance, higher-resolution remote video, and expanded security options.
The system supports Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2). For additional information about Lenovo
XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2), refer to

• UEFI-compliant server firmware
Lenovo ThinkSystem firmware is Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) compliant. UEFI replaces
BIOS and defines a standard interface between the operating system, platform firmware, and external
devices.

2. By default, the caretaker node is automatically selected by the PSoC firmware on the chassis midplane, unless
otherwise designated.
3. The update of PSU firmware might or might not be available. When it is available, only the caretaker node can
perform this update.
