The Levoit Classic 300S is a smart ultrasonic top-fill cool mist humidifier designed to improve air quality and provide aromatherapy in your home. This device offers a range of features for convenient operation, smart control, and easy maintenance, ensuring a comfortable and healthy humidity level in your living space.
Function Description
The primary function of the Levoit Classic 300S is to release a cool mist into the air, increasing the humidity level in a room. It utilizes ultrasonic technology to create a fine mist without heating the water, making it safe for use around children and pets. The humidifier is equipped with smart capabilities, allowing users to control and monitor it remotely via the VeSync app. It also includes an aroma box for diffusing essential oils, adding a pleasant scent to the humidified air.
Usage Features
The Classic 300S offers multiple ways to control and customize its operation. The device can be turned on or off using the power button on the display. Mist levels can be adjusted through Auto Mode, Low, Medium, and High settings, allowing users to choose the intensity of the mist output. In Auto Mode, the humidifier intelligently adjusts the mist level to maintain a relative humidity between 40% and 50%, or a custom target humidity set in the VeSync app. If the humidity level exceeds the target, the humidifier will stop misting and resume when the humidity drops.
A Sleep Mode is available for undisturbed rest, which automatically sets the mist to Auto Mode, turns off the display lights, and disables the night light. The night light itself can be adjusted to 50%, 100% brightness, or turned off completely. The display lights can also be turned off by pressing and holding the night light button for 3 seconds. The humidifier features a top-fill design for easy water refilling, and the nozzle can be rotated to direct the mist in a desired direction.
For enhanced control and smart features, the VeSync app provides remote access to the humidifier. Through the app, users can turn the humidifier on/off, cycle through mist levels, activate Auto Mode and Sleep Mode, and control the display and night lights. The app also allows for customization of Auto Mode settings, such as target humidity and auto-off functions. Users can monitor current humidity levels in the humidifier's environment and program individual timers or create schedules for automated operation. The Classic 300S is compatible with third-party voice control systems like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, enabling convenient hands-free operation.
The aroma box feature allows for aromatherapy. Users can add 8-10 drops of essential oil to the aroma pad located in the aroma box at the back of the base. The humidifier will then automatically diffuse the aroma when in use. It is important to note that essential oils should only be added to the aroma pad and not directly into the water tank or base chamber, as this can damage the humidifier and cause leaks. The aroma pads are reusable and can be cleaned after diffusing essential oils.
To ensure proper function, the humidifier should be placed on a flat, level, water-resistant surface at least 12 inches (30 cm) away from walls. The mist should be directed away from walls, furniture, bedding, and appliances to prevent damage. It is recommended to use purified or distilled water to fill the tank and avoid filling past the max water line. The humidifier will not mist if there is no water in the tank or if the tank is removed, and will flash an indicator 10 times before turning off. If the humidifier is not producing mist correctly, users should check the water level in the base chamber and pour out any excess water if it is above the max line. Moving or shaking the humidifier should be avoided as it can cause the water tank to release too much water into the base chamber.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining the humidifier's performance and preventing bacteria growth. The manufacturer recommends cleaning the humidifier weekly and before storing it. All maintenance should be performed on a water-resistant surface, such as a kitchen counter.
The cleaning process involves several steps:
- Unplugging the humidifier.
- Removing and rinsing the water tank cover and dust cover.
- Removing the water tank from the base and pouring out any remaining water from both the tank and the base chamber. When pouring water from the base, it's advised to hold down the float to prevent it from falling out.
- Rinsing the tank and base chamber with room-temperature water.
- Descaling the humidifier: This involves filling the tank with 3 US cups (710 mL) of distilled white vinegar, replacing the tank cover, and swishing the vinegar around the tank. The tank is then placed back on the base and allowed to soak for 15-20 minutes. The vinegar will drain into the base chamber, loosening mineral buildup in both the tank and the base chamber, including the transducer and float.
- Removing the tank and pouring out the vinegar.
- Removing the noise silencer by pressing its release tab and gently pulling it away from the humidifier.
- Removing the float from the base chamber by pulling up the larger side and then pulling the shaft out from the U-shaped float brackets.
- Soaking the float and noise silencer in a small container filled with enough vinegar to cover them for 15-20 minutes.
- Using a soft cloth and the included cleaning brush to remove scale from all parts.
- Rinsing all parts thoroughly until any vinegar smell is completely gone.
- Drying all parts completely with a cloth before reassembling or storing.
For the aroma pad, maintenance is simpler:
- Press the aroma box to release it from the base and pull it out.
- Remove the aroma pad and rinse it under warm, running water.
- Dry the aroma pad with a clean cloth and place it back into the aroma box. Liquid cleaners or detergents should not be poured into the aroma pad or box.
When storing the humidifier, all parts should be cleaned and completely dried before being stored in a cool, dry location. It is important not to immerse the base in water or liquid, and no part of the humidifier should be placed in a dishwasher. Detergents should not be used to clean the humidifier. The water should be changed daily to prevent bacteria growth. If the humidifier will not be used for a week or longer, it should be cleaned and dried instead of leaving water inside.
